| Determined | Hardworking | Timid | Kind | Forgiving | Social | Understanding |

Following the capture of a quarter of the brigade as well as the misfortune that befell Sven, Kaorin, back then absent-minded and clumsy, grew to be more mature and motherly in nature. She still spaces out in her thoughts but her attention is easier to attract. She pays attention to people especially when they talk about their experiences or themselves in general. Kaorin has become more hardworking and determined to learn in order to be of use to the brigade and hopefully be able to save lives--especially of people who are important to her.

Despite this, she still gets scared very easily by loud noises and objects larger than her. She is  timid but that doesn’t necessarily mean she is shy. In fact, she is quite the chatter-box and loves to be surrounded by people. She is warm and kind and would always try to help in any way she can. She is forgiving and never hesitates to give people another chance, no matter how ‘evil’ they seem to be. Because of this she is very gullible and has high chances of being fooled into doing something. The only thing that saves her is the hope that people will do her good because she exerts herself in doing good for others.

Mentioned earlier was how timid she could be, she braves herself when the situation calls for it. Regarding the people she could protect, she would risk herself, living by the thought that every life is important and has the right to be saved. Being so close to death, she always has a fear of people dying and if she could, she would bear their pain for them just so she can save them.

The child’s name

A hearty cry from an infant sounded from a humble home. The mother cradled the child in her arms. She ran her fingers along the child’s cheek before looking up at her husband. It didn’t matter whether their child had strange features that they didn’t have. All that matters is that she was alive, and will hopefully grow up like a little princess.

“Kaorin.”

With this, the child was declared a stillborn, and was forever hidden from everyone’s sight. This was the only way she could be protected from government eyes—the only way to keep her safe.

The couple were humans; not known to have any rabbit lineage or any trace of a recessive gene. Being doctors and working in certain facilities in Pearson, the couple was dedicated to creating medicine and helping people as part of their profession. After a certain amount of time, the doctors in Pearson will be shuffled and sent to other companies to work. It was a normal routine for them that naturally came in their line of work. When doctors have a child, they are immediately tested for rabbit genes and once proven that they indeed have it even as a recessive gene, they will be given up to the government as test subjects. What they didn’t know was that one of the companies purposely made the workers drink a rabbit-gene infected drug. And to their surprise and detriment, all their companions at work who were expecting a child all had rabbit offspring. They either had to give up on their child, or commit infanticide, to save the infant from having to live as a test subject, not knowing who they are, or who their parents were.

The couple was fearful of their child’s fate. Their hope of their child being born a normal human shattered bit by bit and each day passing by only brought them grief for the child’s future—
if there is a future, even. Their friends, having suffered the same fate, knew that they have to do everything they could to save this one child… if it’s the only thing they could do to repent for what happened to their own children.

And that night, when the child was born, she was declared stillborn. And with that, the secret of her existence was forever hidden, and like that, the child lived.

Kaorin was raised by her parents along with her aunts and uncles to be a polite, caring little girl. She was always surrounded by the adults who treated her like their little princess and thus, with their over-protective nature, she became very timid and fearful. She never had anyone her age to socialize with, but because she couldn’t understand what the adults always talked about, she chose to indulge herself in books, novels, art, sometimes games. At least this way, she learned something and entertained herself even just a little bit. But more than her personal boredom, she also wondered what her parents do. Sometimes, she would hear other people inside their house, in a secluded room far back. When she put her ears against the door, she would sometimes hear crying, sometimes just faint laughter of what she recognized as joy. Through a small hole on the wall she would peer into and see that her parents, as doctors, treated people who had no money to pay, but most of the times, they treated rabbits who couldn’t get equal treatment from the city’s hospitals. They helped humans and rabbit alike, but because of this, they always have an argument with her aunts and uncles.

“Do you have any idea what would happen if they find out you’re helping rabbits in secret?”

“You have to stop this. Think of your child.”

“You’re putting Kaorin at risk.”

These were things that they always argued upon. But in the child’s eyes, her parents were her first heroes. They were good people, helping others when they need them… doing everything they could to be able to save lives. To her, it was the greatest thing that one could do. She wanted to be like them, but just by the fact that she is a rabbit, she knew it was but a dream, and that it was impossible unless she studies… and that’s just what she did. She did not understand those things written in her parent’s books but in between her usual comics were her efforts trying to understand them. She just read, asked, and tried to educate herself until her parents noticed the strange inclination the child has for what they were doing. She did not only read books, sometimes they catch her checking up on their patients when she thought they were gone. As a young child, Kaorin was very active in taking care of people but at times, her parents would notice her sitting with one of their patients, just staring, saying nothing in contrast to her usually talkative attitude. Hours after that, the patient would die. It happened not only once, twice… but a lot of times, appearing as if she could foresee death itself.

When her parents realized she has a lot of potential and is very passionate about people, they decided to formally teach her. Of course, because she was young, they had to start with the very basics and to their surprise, she was a very good pupil and she was very bright. They soon allowed her to be present when they were doing their work as part of her learning as well. Kaorin never left them without surprises. It wasn’t just her dedication to learning and to people… it was an ability special to her, which she uses for a good cause. It just saddens her parents how it brings their child so close to death, when they have risked everything to deliver her from it.

Here with you

Once she reached the age when the couple could depend on her, the clinic was slowly given to her care. She got easily distracted when other people were around her, but she eventually coped with her distractions if she was comfortable with the attending doctor. Usually if there were complications that she couldn’t handle by herself, one of her parents will immediately attend to her and the patient, even amidst work. She was diligent, and the people who often visits the couple love her very much. But of course, still a young teen, she needed some other people to talk to, aside from her patients. Often, she would sneak out of the house and go to an abandoned playground which seemed to have been halted in the middle of construction years ago. At first she was deathly afraid of people seeing her as she has never gone out of her home her whole life. But each time she said goodbye to her patients, she would get a glimpse of the outside world, and that made her want to break free—even for a little while. Hence, she always went to that abandoned park whenever she could.

There, she met a bunch of little children, most were rabbits and some were humans. Often they were dressed in patient clothes—one that looked very different from what they have in their clinic. What was strange is that she never saw these children before, and as she became friends with them, they told her who they were—or at least, what they were. The children lived in a science facility for as long as they could remember. They were only given numbers as proper names. The only life they had was that of being a test subject. To them, it was what they lived for. It was to support and participate in the scientists’ research and in exchange, they would feed them and let them live. And even if they escaped to meet Kaorin in that playground, they still returned to their so-called ‘home’.

Being the only friends Kaorin has had in her life, she took care of the children in ways she could. She would bring them food, read them stories, and draw with them when they met. She eventually gave them names as she finds it difficult to remember their numbers or their tags. Steve, Tony, Peter, Nathalie, Bruce, Clark… She named them after her favorite characters, and with this, they somehow felt connected to each other. A little bit, because they were almost the same.

One day, Kaorin went out as usual to meet with the children. She sat on the swing where she usually sat , finding it strange that the children were a bit late that day. Usually, they’d come earlier than she did, eagerly waiting for her arrival. But today… it was awfully quiet. Could it be they have failed to escape today? No, that couldn’t be so, they have never failed to meet her. She was drowned in her thoughts until she picked up an alarming scent, making her anxious—afraid. It was the scent of blood. It was coming closer and closer and as if she were held where she was, she couldn’t move especially when she saw one of the children running towards her, face covered with blood and limping badly as he came near.

To her terror, the others came after—and they weren’t alone. It would seem that they have been caught while escaping, and that the guards of the facility followed them, doing everything to catch the children—dead or alive. She stood up and ran to meet the children. She immediately pointed to where they could hide and the children obediently followed. One of them was left as the child stumbled and fell, not moving anymore. Without thinking twice, she went back and held the child in her arms. It would be too late. They wouldn’t be able to run away. She held the child firmly, braving herself as her heart raced together with the incoming footsteps of the assailants. She feared; she was shaking and trembling as she held the child close. What was she going to do? What can she do? They were coming.

A scared whimper escaped her as she heard the sound of impact on one’s body. Her shaking came with her tensing up. With each weight of the impact, each blow, each strike, she could only wonder why… it had to be like this. She was waiting. And yet, the pain from all those impacts did not come. She lifted her head and looked to where the children were hiding. Safe. They were safe. She turned to look at the men that were assaulting them, and when she did, that’s when she realized that the impacts did not come from the guards but from a tall man who defeated them one by one. With him was a rabbit in a long white coat with strange markings on his face and ears. She bit her lip as she held back her tears. Before she could even thank their saviors, her attention was diverted to the children that waited fearfully not too far away from them. She looked down at the one she held in her arms and to her horror, the child was barely breathing. She tried to stand up, falling back a little as she tried to balance her weight. Without her asking, their saviors helped her with the children, assisting them as she led the way home.

She laid the child down on the vacant bed. She usually knew what to do next, but her panic caused her to be anxious. She paced back and forth as she tried to care for the children simultaneously—she didn’t know what to do; she was scared—so scared that she fell on her knees and knelt down beside the bed. No… she couldn’t give up now.

Dear Mama and Papa,

Thank you for everything that you have given me. I am so very lucky because you are my only Mama and Papa. I have learned so very many things, and I’m very happy you allowed me to help other people alongside you.

Today, I met bad people who meant to take my friends. They hurt them, they made them cry, and even though I tried to help, I couldn’t. I.. couldn’t fight. But two friends came and helped us, saved the children and I. Seeing friends hurt made my heart hurt, maybe more than any wound could hurt.

Therefore, Mama and Papa… I have decided to go. I am going with the two new friends to requite for saving us today. They told me there is another place that needs help. It is not just in our home that people are hurting… Something like what happened today is happening somewhere else and I want to do something, just like the two of you.
In my own way, I want to help the people who are just like me.

Please don’t worry. I am a big girl now, I promise when I return, I will have grown into Mama and Papa’s brave little princess. Keep smiling. I will be home soon.

With lots of love,
Kaorin

P.S. Please take care of the children while I am gone. They are very nice.

P.P.S. Black Jack’s Bunny Brigade.

Arc 1 : Detainment

Despite being a top ranker, Kaorin prefers to help out in the lower levels of the brigade, hence dealing more with minor injuries. She studies still under her parents and relatives to further help her advance her knowledge.

As unrest within the city grew, she was advised to stay back at the brigade due to the increasing danger. She was then assigned to watch over Sven's health due to the fact that he's always been sleepless eversince some unfortunate events befell an important member. She was delighted to be asigned such task, for out of all the people, she was fondest of him. She always persuaded him to sleep, eat properly and get up from his seat but he simply wouldn't budge. Despite being together, she felt a wall between them, growing each day Sven continued working. She regretted how stupid and clueless she was for him not to be able to trust her enough so he could confide with her his troubles. And that wall grew until if became a cliff when the Brigade's system has been attacked--directly connected to Sven. She saw it with her eyes what happened to him and with all the knowledge she has, all the things she learned, she simply couldn't do anything to save him.

Sven fell into a coma.

And days following that, weeks following that, she simply stayed with him and never left his side. But even in his sleep, he didn't need her. She spent all her days caring for him, and at night when she was often sleepless, she would come and help out those whose wounds she can do something about. In her own way, just like she told her parents, she would help out those in need.

Eventually, the unrest in the city ended but not without deaths and a lot of blood spent and wounds mended. But still, Sven wouldn't wake up. After the city was restored, Sven's family had decided to take him home, and maybe, probably, for good. She wasn't needed then, she wasn't needed now. She has cared for a lot of people but not the one person that she cared for the most.

Her sadness turned into determination, and that she used to continue to learn, gain more experience, skill--she would take anything to be better and be useful. Hoping that somehow in the future when Sven needed her, she could save him with her own hands.

    R E L A T I O N S H I P

Sven – Sven is someone very special to Kaorin. Though she first became comfortable with him due to the fact that he was the one who took her in the Brigade, she now constantly asks for a little bit of his time. She always wants to take care of him, though most of the time, it is him who takes care of her. Sven… is someone that she really, really, really…

Kirsche - Sven assigned Kirsche to look after Kaorin when she goes out in the city. She adores Kirsche a lot and trusts that he will take care of her. They have the same taste in food so it's so much fun to be with him especially when buying sweets!

Vanilla - She mentors the rabbit as she just became a medic. She took care of Vanilla when she was in isolation and has since developed a close relation to her. Kaorin is happy to be seen as someone Vanilla can depend on.

Ghost - A rabbit who is constantly in trouble, she worries about Ghost a lot. She wants to know him better but it seems like Ghost is more afraid of upsetting Kaorin more than anything else.

    O T H E R
    • Kaorin loves to read comics and she’d often make references from her favorite ones.
    • She is good at doing household chores and she loves seeing things clean. Often, she would slip in random rooms just to clean. And this is a warning to never leave your room unlocked.
    • She can cook, but she cooks very slowly because she tends to make food overly detailed or sometimes, she makes them look like characters from what she’s been reading.
    • Kaorin has a knack for drawing.
    • She is a very lousy runner and would often trip if she gets distracted. (She's working on this. . .)
    • She loves to play video games and even though it may seem as though she presses the buttons so ineptly and slowly, you’ll find that she somehow wins the game.
    • Because she is easily distracted, she can’t play RPGs because she often spend too much time wandering  the map, fascinated about something and then winds up forgetting what she came there for.
    • She would always hang-out in places with a lot of people. In the Brigade, she would usually be seen in the F-rank infirmary especially when there is no one else assisting the patients.

Update 3/25/17

First time in years I updated Kaorin LOL. Though that bit of added part in the history made me cry a little... HAHA I also updated her personality so... people dont have to be scared when they are looking for a medic :iconrlytearplz:
