Cloverleaf Episode 8: Forlorn End

Log: March 2314

The girl laid down motionlessly on the bed where he used to lie down. His scent was fading, and the bed was only warm now because she has barely been moving where she was since he was taken from her.

The clock ticked for each second and beeped when it was time to eat, but that was nothing that made her move. Her side was feeling sore from lying down and that familiar feeling of starvation and anxiety was coming to her. No phone calls reached her, and the automated message from her telephone was the only thing that could be heard, followed by a message from her father or…

“Hello, Mei.” That voice of the young man who told her of the young master’s replacement, ‘Aster’. Things have turned out interesting for him as the doll-like rabbit had grown captivated by the Replacement she was supposed to eliminate. Now that she had lost him, she would do nothing at all, almost equivalent to slowly killing herself to starvation, wilting away, and drowning in her own thoughts “I am assigning you a task…” All of his words were shut as the rabbit just sunk herself further in her thoughts. No matter what comforting words, or intimidation was thrown at her by different people, she wouldn’t budge. Like this, she could just… “He may appear there,” the man chose the right words to make the girl stand up where she was and answer his call.

“Where is it?” In her enthusiastic little voice, she inquired.

Volkov. Who wouldn’t recognize? She knew about the activities of the shipping line, whether legal or illegal… the man who talked her in this had information; it was as if he had eyes in the shipping line itself. A rabbit such as her who is expendable and would trust anything that he says was just the right choice. After all, she was created for this purpose. A sample of a weapon is on one of the deliveries. Vague, yet he was specific about his instructions; the man knew what he wanted. Only the blind hope of being able to see her most precious is what motivated her that she didn’t even think of what the man wanted her to accomplish. Quietly, as light as her footsteps would go, she had effortlessly slipped in with the assistance the man provided her.
Liquids in all different colors, packages stack upon packages and packages, hard steel clumped together… it was what one would expect from a place where all supplies for everything in the city came from. The girl was given clear instructions and she knew just where her target would be. Her mind was distracted in trying to pick up any sign that Da Ge was there but as soon as she reached the more secured room where her task was, her distraction got the better of her. “Who goes there?!” The voice echoed, meanwhile sounding the alarm. Unable to escape, the only way out was to attack the witness, leaving him as she went for her escape.

… The sample she was asked to acquire was not at hand. She could only remember the shattering of the case and the spilling of liquid all over the floor next to the patroller. The next thing she knew, there was bashing sounds on the wall and a deafening screech, it being either a scream or a sharp object running through the iron walls that she was surrounded with. A shadow of a creature cast upon the floors, getting closer and closer as she flew by. What was this…? The other was never here before; why was he chasing her in a rabid manner—was it a wild animal delivered to the island? Her confusion only heightened when an explosion was triggered by the creature, throwing her off course as she traveled through containers. The beast paid no mind to anything in its way, as if it could not think on its own. An escaped animal perhaps, has she become prey to this unlikely creature?

Anxiety. Grabbed once by the foot and thrown toward a wall, the impact had made her disoriented—not enough that she wouldn’t notice the blaring white coated rabbit that stood beside her. The red marks on his face was what she noticed first and foremost, and his gentle, although quite alerted tone of voice. It seems as though he was there to respond to the situation with the alarms she had set off due to her infiltration; now his main problem would be the beast that was coming right at them. Jumping away from the incoming assailant, a huge cavity was formed on the wall upon its impact, separating her from the white rabbit. It had come to her that the other was trying to seal off all exits to contain the beast, but even though the other rabbit’s movements were fast, it couldn’t be helped that his way get blocked by the creature whilst it continued to destroy and run about the area.

It was no surprise that they would come by each other again as they had the same goal: to escape and seal off this beast. That was when the white rabbit instinctively saved her once, distracting the beast for her so she could escape its grip. Didn’t he even wonder who she was or what she was doing there? Ordering for her to get over a ladder and into their final escape, she followed his instructions, reaching her hand out to him so that he, too, could escape—

But the only thing that could be heard was another round of broken pipes, the creaking sound of the steel ladder and eventually, the breaking of where the white rabbit was holding onto.

Was this task… to terminate her? Who was the mysterious white rabbit?

In all honesty, I blindly did this episode… it was weird how it came out looking better than I expected as I was out of it while doing this? Anyway, I‘ve finished this half a year ago but only uploading now because I don’t know how to type(laughs). I also enjoy drawing Sven very much. He has the cutest eyes _pokes//no More to come~
